I thought I would get on and update you all on a few things.
*Cooking has been going great. I am loving it, and I am getting some good "food" vocabulary built in. We are going to continue cooking together, but now my friend is going to teach me some spiritual vocabulary and we will working on reading the good book and praying together!
*I have a conversation partner. At this stage, we are just going to meet for an hour 1 morning a week. I still have Dave and Maggie at home so I just want to take it slowly and see how the kids (especially Dave) handle it. No doubt that this will be a change for them....she will definitely be dressed in traditional dress and I am interested to see how Dave handles it. My partner is a University student...who holds to the beliefs of the people and culture here. I am really excited to start to go deeper into the way things are here. Our first meeting is Monday from 10:00-11:00am. Hopefully, I can get enough activities to keep Dave and Maggie busy. I will start out just learning about her and her family...what she is studying and her interests and hobby's. Then, hopefully, we can move into holidays, beliefs, etc.
*We had an awesome weekend with our co-workers! They are our only co-workers on-site at this stage. They return home in 2 months to have their first baby. They will return on-site January.....along with us!!!! So excited to know that the next time we see each other, we will be living and working alongside each other in the same town. Please keep praying for them. They have been sick quite a bit, and the medical facilities are not very good-especially for pregnant women.
*We have decided on our platform/visa and now begins the long process of formalizing it and getting things ready for the local authorities here. I am not sure how much I can share yet. Shane is not home, so I will update more on that later!
*I have my first big language test on Friday. Please pray for me to remember everything I need to!!!!!!!!!!!
*I had a great day with Dave today. It was very encouraging.
*We had another big rain storm today. Good news is that the bathroom didnt overflow (the sewage did come back up the drains), but the house leaked bad!!!! Noah's bed got wet, and a lot of Maggie's clothes got soaked! Lots of mopping up. I think our house is falling apart!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I am exhausted after having our co-workers here all weekend. I think I am going to head to bed. Thanks so much for praying for us!
