Puji's Wedding

It was great! What an awesome cultural experience! Shane and I were both going to go, but we could not find anyone to help watch our kids. So, I ended up going by myself. I am so glad I did go. I do not think the kids could have handled it. It would have been too long, and I think they would  have drawn too much attention.

My friends and I got lost on the way to the wedding. It was out in a village Kampung. It ended up taking us an hour to get there, but in reality we were probably only about a 20 minute drive away from the wedding!

My teacher, Puji, is the one who got married today. I have not had her as a teacher very much, but she is very nice and I enjoy talking with her. We waited to go to the wedding till late so that we could see her in traditional dress. We ended up getting there around 5:00pm. This morning, at the church (this is a Christian wedding remember), she wore white like we do. Because she is poor and she lives in the Kampung, the reception is held at her house all day and all night. So, we could really just decide when we wanted to drop in at her house. There was loud music, tables, food, etc. We stayed for about an hour, had something to eat (flies and all), and then left.

I had a great chance to talk with her. I could barely recognize her with all her make-up and dress on! She said she had a headache because her head was so heavy from her hair! Poor girl. She looked beautful though.

I only got 2 photos before my camera died. I was so upset! My friends got some more and I will post those when they email them to me. The photos I got are of Puji and all of my teachers at our language school. I just love all these guys!
