Our Trip-Medical Clinic and School

We had chance to go with a doctor to the slums of the city where he runs a medical clinic. The pictures look like we are in a village, but really we are in the slums of the city. The medical clinic was probably my favorite part. It was amazing to see the effects of drinking and bathing in filthy water. I really have caught Shane's vision for clean water. It just blew my mind to see children with sores all over their bodies because they have been bathing near their toilets and drinking the water there.

While we were there, kids came to catch a look at the "white" people. They followed us everywhere-especially Shane (because he looks like a giant). We somehow ended up at the little school. My coworker and I (along with Bec-who was visiting us) got to teach them the song-Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes. It was fun!

It was a great morning for us all. One of our co-workers stayed back with the kids at the hotel so that I was able to go along too. Sometimes, I am not able to go because I need to stay with the kids, but this time I was so thankful to be able to go. God is really growing in me a special heart for these people...seeing their needs, their hurts, and the hopelessness they live with. I have definitely had a kick in my motivation to learn the language so that we can get over there and get to work!!!

Enjoy the photos!
