The Past 24 Hours

In short, the past 24 hours have been crazy!

Yesterday was a crazy day with my friend's daughter, Okta, being sick. Then, last night, the kids and I went over to a friend's house for dinner. It was nice, but I got a message from my friend saying that the doctor said that her daughter had a sore throat. Now, Okta probably did have a sore throat, but that little girl had WAY more than that. I ended up have a few back and forth conversations with my friend-getting the diagnosis that the doctor gave her and the exact names of the medicines that they were given. I then called Nurse Mei (the nurse that is on our team here) and ran everything by her. Mei wanted to talk with my friend, but there is no phone service in the village where she lives. However, Mei did indeed think that the doctor had given her an antibiotic. So that is really good. AND I am happy to write that this morning I got a message from my friend saying that Okta was doing much better today. Praise the Lord. Please continue to pray for them.

Once we got home last night, the boys were brushing their teeth in the bathroom when they decided to decorate the bathroom with baby powder. Obviously, I was not very happy about this so I sent Noah to my bed to wait for me, and I sent David to his bed. I have specifically told David in the past not to bother the powder! While, I was talking with David, Maggie must have followed Noah into my bedroom.

The next thing I know or remember is Noah screaming. SERIOUS screaming. I dont think I will forget that scream anyway soon. So, I ran into the bedroom to find Maggie sitting on my bed with blood all over her face. It was almost black, the blood was so dark and there was so much of it. At first, I couldnt even find the wound. Noah was hysterical and kept saying that he did it and he was sorry. I cant believe it-but I was pretty calm because I felt that I needed to calm him down. I just kept telling him over and over again that she was fine. Once I found the wound on her forehead, I just grabbed the closest thing to me and applied pressure for awhile (YAY first aid training) while I tried to calm Noah down.

Once he calmed down, he was a huge help in getting me my phone, washers, towels, etc. Then, he actually ended up holding the washer on Maggie's head while I went to call nurse Mei. Before leaving, Shane decided to do something to our phones, and my normal phone numbers were not in my mobile phone so I had to go get the phone numbers and call that way.

Nurse Mei was great. So calm. I dont know that I was!!!! She did say it was normal for head wounds to bleed a lot. Mei asked me to squeeze the wound shut and superglue it. So that is what I did! I seriously thought I was going to faint. I gave her panadol and things started to settle down after awhile. She went to sleep fine, even though I kept checking on her in the night.

What actually happened was that her and Noah were messing around on my bed, and Noah tripped her and she fell and hit her head on the headboard of our bed (which has this nasty-asia wood carving on it---so ugly!)!

This morning, I ran errands with the 3 kids. A friend here has a Dryer so she volunteered to dry all of my bedding and clothes that I had to wash because they were covered in blood last night. I am just so thankful because it has rained most of the day! Then, I took the kids up to Noah's school to see nurse Mei (who is also the second grade teacher at the school). Mei had a look and said I did a good job! YAY! I did indeed superglue the bandaid to Maggie's head, but we eventually got it off and everything looked good.

I then took the kids to a friends house for lunch and now we are home resting after an eventful week. We cant wait for Shane to come home tomorrow. Oh we love him so much! Noah said he cannot wait to climb into bed on Monday morning and snuggle with Daddy. It has been rough on us this week, but you know, I have managed to continue to get up at my normal time and have my quiet time with the Lord. My quiet time has been on perseverance-so much what I needed this week.

I am so thankful for the team here that is supporting us. Thanks too for all of you praying for us at home.
